Vehicle Air Conditioning Training
DCM Technical Services is offering a course which provides a basic introduction to air conditioning: service, repair and safe handling. This is designed to meet the minimum qualifications as a short-term stop gap until accredited courses are announced.
The cost will be £120 + VAT per candidate for a one day course, with a mix of classroom and hands on workshop training in a realistic environment. There are discounts available for block bookings of more than 4 candidates.
There are usually no more than 6 candidates per course and we can offer on site training in some cases , with the courses tailored to your specifications.
If you are repairing air con now without being qualified, you are probably breaking the law.
Did you know that F-Gas regulations came into force on July 4th 2007? If you are repairing air conditioning systems, without formal training you are breaking the law. The legislation will be phased in gradually, but by 2009 you will need an approved F-gas qualification to repair systems and to buy gas, which will be in reusable non-disposable containers.
Important dates for F-Gas Regulations that apply to all Mobile air Conditioning Engineers:
• From July 2007 all individuals who handle air conditioning refrigerant gases need to have been trained and certificated. Minimum requirement for a MAC Technician is refrigerant handling ‘in-house’ training. Those achieving an ‘in-house’ refrigerant handling qualification can work on MAC systems until July 2010 without further training and certification.
• All ‘new’ MAC technicians after
July 2008 will need to achieve, as a minimum requirement, a refrigerant
handling qualification approved by DEFRA. From July 2008 individuals that
are new to MAC, can only work on an MAC system under the supervision of
an individual that has received ‘in-house’ training before July
2008 up to a maximum of 12 months.
• After July 2010, ALL MAC technicians must
have achieved, as a minimum requirement, a refrigerant handling qualification
as approved by DEFRA. Any refrigerant handling qualification that was awarded
prior to the final F-Gas legislation which meets the F-Gas requirements
will be retrospectively approved by DEFRA.
